Great War Battle of Amiens 1918 single military Medal awarded to Private and Lance Corporal G. Simpson. 2nd Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers, formerly 2nd/5th City of Glasgow Battalion, Highland Light Infantry, Territorial Force.

Condition lightly polished Very Fine

George Simpson, worked as an electric pump man with a private fire brigade at the Glasgow City Saw Mills. Joined up and sent out to the Western Front from September 1916. He was wounded on six occasions, including the Battle of the Somme on October 12 1916 and the Battle of Arras on the 23rd. Not withstanding all his actions, he was gassed on 9th August 1918. Wounded a sixth time on 28th October 1918, hit by shrapnel in the right thigh and being more serious he was evacuated to England.

MM award was published in the London Gazette on 24th January 1919. He was discharged on 16th July 1919.
