A Boxed US Army 88th Division 350th “Battle Mountain” Regiment Named Purple Heart. KIA 23rd April 1945 in the area of Campo Santo-Villa, Poma, Italy. it comes with scarce Military Order certificate dated 4th June 1945 signed by J P Murphy Commander. Box is in very good condition with engraved name to the back Mitchell R SITARZ, complete with spare ribbon bar and lapel button. Comes with a little research he is named as a Polish American on a war memorial.

An American WWII Boxed Legion of Merit Legionnaire medal quality enamelling to the front of the medal with a spare ribbon, missing the lapel badge. Medal bar is numbered 7700. The box has age wear and lid lining has a stain inside.

The Distinguished Flying Cross was established in the Air Corps Act (Act of Congress, 2 July 1926, Public Law No. 446, 69th Congress). This act provided for award "to any person, while serving in any capacity with the Air Corps of the Army of the United States, including the National Guard and the Organized Reserves, or with the United States Navy, since the 6th day of April 1917, has distinguished, or who, after the approval of this Act, distinguishes himself by heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight."
